A longer, even more authoritative COVID report

Last month I cited Martin Sewell’s Edinburgh-based review of COVID and the calamitous measures taken against it, recommending it as a reference. Now there’s an even more authoritative paper – the final report of the US Congress’s Select Subcommittee on the Coronovirus Pandemic, 520 delicious pages of scathing critique.

It differs fom Sewell primarily in that rather than being a review of the literature, it is primarily the fruit of interviews with all the major US players, and some of the UK ones – Fauci, Collins, Daszak, Farrar and a host of others. It exposes the obfuscation and lies from the president downwards, levels direct criticism where it is due, and comes to most of the same conclusions that this blog came to during the course of the debacle. And of course, it does so with the imprimatur of the US House of Representatives – rather harder to dismiss than “fringe epidemiologists” and so on. It is far more objective than the UK’s own cover-up COVID Inquiry, as well as being finished, rather than dragging on for years.

There are a few things in it that things I question. For example, the report hails the success of Operation Warp Speed, saying that the COVID vaccines saved “millions of lives.” Little real evidence is presented for this, whilst the rest of the report describes the undue haste and corruption in the bypassing of safety standards in their development, the resignation in disgust of key scientists, the unprecedented adverse reactions and so on. All this contradicts the “safe and effective” phrase actually applied to the vaccines by the report, even though elsewhere the “safe and effective” mantra itself is directly debunked.

I put this ambiguity down to the predominance of Republicans on the subcommittee, aware of the enthusiasm Ex-President and President-elect Trump had for Warp Speed. In oither words, one has to remember it was produced by politicians. Nevertheless, there is bipartisan support for many of the findings, I suppose because the kind of people volunteering for such a project are those with some interest in medical science, who are unable to deny the plain evidence of malfeasance before them.

Needless to say, you will see very little about this new report in the MSM, even though it is such a major statement from a major organ of the world’s major government (which also, according to the report’s own findings, originated both the virus and much of the policy for its management).

But you may find it useful to give the link to your “normie” friends and relatives next time they accuse you of being an outlying conspiracy theorist. You are in the esteemed company of the US Congressional Subcommittee on COVID.

Yes, I haven’t really kept up enough with all sides of the story on vaccine safety. I bypassed that when I decided that though it may well be safe, nobody was going to tell me if it wasn’t, and that given the age distribution of the risk, my family weren’t going to get jabbed.

With respect to the Republicans and political pressure, I think what’s important is that Trump (as far as I can tell) wasn’t for mandates. That’s what counts: that everyone should be able to make their own (preferably informed) decision on the risk.
